Eddystone 940 - 1962 - 1969
Manufactured from 1962 to 1969, the attractive Eddystone 940 single conversion receiver has 13 valves. This was one of Eddystone's last valve receivers. The famous large linear slow motion tuning dial has an impressive solid and smooth feel and remains one of the finest of any receiver that I have been fortunate to operate.
Hallicrafters SX-100 - 1955 to 1962
The cool looking 14 valve Hallicrafters SX-100 general coverage double conversion superheterodyne receiver was manufactured from 1955 to 1962.
This SX-100 was kindly donated by fellow dxer John Plimmer.
Hallicrafters also manufacturecd various speakers including this R-48 model which contains a 3.2 ohm, 5 by 7 inch oval speaker. The R48 was produced from 1965 to 1969.

Zenith 5R216 - 1938
This attractive Zenith 5R216 model was manufactured in 1938. It's cube design is simple but elegant and remains one of my personal favorites.
An ebay purchase in March 2014, the set displayed what appears to be an original cabinet finish in very good condition (apart from a small chip at the top).
The iconic Zenith Black Dial and classic "Z" lightning bolt brass pointer.
The 5R216 was Zenith's entry level cube radio with an original price tag of $19.95.
Grunow 670 - 1934
The Grunow model 670 tombstone was manufactured in 1934 by General Household Utilities, situated in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. (Added in January 2014).
... an effective display at night !

His Masters Voice HMV 110 - c 1933
This stunning HMV model 110 cathedral radio was added in February 2014 (a successful South African Bid or Buy purchase). The cabinet is identical to the RCA model 110 which was manufactured in 1933 (see advertisement below).
Two of the control knobs were missing so I decided to order reproduction knobs from Ed Schutz at Renovated Radios. Although I ordered four, the two reproduction knobs on the far right turned out to be a good match for the originals on the left.
